In the darkness off John O’Groats, the team of three crossed the finishing line after 3 days 11 hours 52 minutes and 15 seconds at an average speed of 7.39kts.
After a very fast start reaching up the Irish sea, things went calm as they passed the Hebridean coast of Scotland. However they managed to set a respectable time for the first official record.
“It was a great challenge, and we hope now that others will follow us and try and beat the record. It is a challenging route as far as the weather goes and the Scottish section was unseasonably light for us. We still managed to complete it and hopefully start a trend. As for the boat, she performed brilliantly. Only damage was a blown Code 0 sail but I’ve not looked to see how bad it is and if it can be repaired yet – need to sell some more pixels before we can replace it. On that note I am really pleased to see all the pixels still on the side of the boat, even after blasting along at 20kts for some considerable time”
